Tripura University (A Central University), Suryamaninagar, Tripura, has invited online applications from eligible Indian candidates for admission to its Ph.D. Programme for Academic Session 2026–27. The notification is dated 07 October 2026 and covers 44 Ph.D. programme subjects.
Tripura University PhD Admission 2026–27
Admission will be governed by the Tripura University Ph.D. Regulations, 2024 (Revised), UGC Ph.D. Regulations, 2022, applicable reservation policy and other statutory norms.
Eligibility Criteria
- One-year/two-semester Master’s degree after a four-year/eight-semester Bachelor’s degree, or
- Two-year/four-semester Master’s degree after a three-year Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent recognised qualification.
- Minimum 55% marks or equivalent grade in the qualifying Master’s degree.
- 5% relaxation is applicable to eligible reserved categories as per rules.
- Candidates with a four-year Bachelor’s degree require minimum 75% marks, with applicable relaxation.
- M.Phil. candidates with at least 55% marks may also be eligible subject to applicable regulations.
PhD Admission Modes
- National-level eligibility/fellowship examinations including applicable UGC-NET/UGC-CSIR-NET and other recognised examinations.
- UGC-NET Categories 2 and 3/NET-LS/Ph.D. admission category, as applicable.
- Research Eligibility Test (RET) conducted by Tripura University.
Selection Criteria
For applicable UGC-NET categories, 70% weightage is given to NET percentile and 30% to interview/viva-voce. For candidates selected through RET, 70% weightage is given to RET and 30% to interview/viva-voce. The qualifying marks for RET are 50%, with applicable relaxation.
