The SSB Constable Tradesman & Driver Recruitment 2026 notification announces a total of 827 vacancies across different Constable posts.
Vacancies are notified for UR, EWS, OBC, SC and ST categories, and 10% of the total vacancies are reserved for Ex-Servicemen, which will be filled by non-Ex-Servicemen if suitable Ex-Servicemen candidates are not available.

SSB Constable Eligibility Criteria 2026
SSB Constable Tradesman & Driver eligibility criteria include nationality, age limit, educational qualification, trade experience and medical/physical standards, and all conditions must be fulfilled as on the closing date of application.
Nationality
- For Constables (Washerman, Barber, Water Carrier, Waiter, Tailor, Gardener, Cobbler): The candidate must be a citizen of India.
- For Constables (Driver, Veterinary, Carpenter, Nursing Orderly): Only Indian citizens will normally be appointed, but subjects of Nepal or Bhutan are not debarred subject to Central Government permission.
Age Limit
The crucial date for determining age and all eligibility criteria is the last date for receipt of online applications, i.e. 30 days from the date of publication in Employment News.
- Constable (Veterinary): 18 to 27 years
- Constable (Driver) – Male: 18 to 27 years
- Constable (Gardener, Water Carrier, Cobbler, Tailor, Washerman, Barber, Waiter): 18 to 23 years
- Constable (Carpenter): 18 to 25 years
- Constable (Nursing Orderly): 18 to 27 years
Age Relaxation
- SC/ST: 5 years
- OBC: 3 years
- Ex-Servicemen: 3 years after deduction of military service rendered from actual age.
- Departmental candidates (Central Government employees) and special categories such as J&K/Ladakh domiciles and dependents of 1984 riot victims get relaxation as per notified limits.
