The Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN) Library invites applications from young, dynamic,
tech- savvy, highly motivated and committed FRESH Post-Graduates in Library & Information Science from
recognized Indian universities with a consistent good academic record, to serve as Library Professional
Trainee purely on a temporary basis for one year. Candidates with strong communication and interpersonal
skills, along with enthusiasm and a passion for learning and delivering innovative library services using
emerging tools and technologies, will be preferred.
Essential Qualification: Master’s Degree in Library & Information Science (M.L.I.Sc.) or equivalent with
First Class from a recognized Indian university
Nature of Traineeship: A “learn while you work” opportunity to gain hands-on experience in various
library functions and services using emerging tools and technologies. Trainees will be mentored by
experienced professionals and will have ample opportunities to explore, learn, and contribute in a dynamic
academic environment.
Duration: The duration of traineeship will be for one year from the date of joining.
Remuneration: Consolidated stipend of Rs. 28,000/- per month.
The selected candidates will work from Monday-Saturday (six days a week) and should be ready to work
in different shifts and weekends on a rotation basis.
Selection of candidates will be based on their consistent good academic record, performance in the written
test and personal interview.
Number of Trainees to be admitted: Five
Age Limit: Not exceeding 26 years as 12th June, 2026 (the last date for submitting an application). Relaxation
for SC, ST and PwD category candidates (up to Age Limit-31 years) and OBC category (up to Age Limit-29 years)
will be applicable as per Govt. of India rules. Age may be relaxed in the case of an exceptionally good
candidate.
Note:
● Interested candidates who meet the above mentioned requirements may submit their application,
with an updated CV & photograph through ONLINE form on or before 12th June, 2026 along with a
scanned copy of all required documents, as ONE File.

● The ONLY shortlisted candidates will be called to appear for the Written Test.
● The written test will be in English.
● The dates for the written test will be announced in due course of time and the details for the same
will be sent to shortlisted candidates via e-mail.
● Based on the performance in the written test, selected candidates will be called for an Interview on
the same day.
● Candidates are requested to send one set of scanned copies of all relevant certificates in support of
date of birth, qualifications, category etc. along with application form & CV as ONE FILE.

Candidates who have appeared for their final year examination and are expecting the results before the test

proof of them having passed the examination in FIRST CLASS without which the candidate will not be
shortlisted for written test.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

• Ph.D degree in Library Science, Information Science, Documentation, Archives, & Manuscript Keeping.
• Master’s degree in Library Science/ Information Science/ Documentation with at least 55% marks or its equivalent grade and a consistently good academic record.
• At least 10 years as a Deputy Librarian in Pay Level 12 or higher at a University or a reputed Institute Library.

Desirable Qualifications:

• Experience in a broad spectrum of library operations, including E-Resource management, research support services, scholarly communication, and digital transformation of library operations.
• Evidence of integration of ICT in library services and resources.
• Knowledge of contemporary digital library practices, trends, and emerging technologies.
• Publications in reputed journals, leadership skills, and professional affiliations with library consortia & networks.

For Deputation:

Officers from Central/ State Governments or institutes of national importance, universities, or PSUs should have:

• Holding an analogous post or at least three years of service in posts carrying Level 13 or its equivalent.
• Experience in administration, establishment, and accounts matters of the Library.

Age Limit:

57 years as on the last date of submitting the application.
